The Best Format to Write a Leave Letter to Class Teacher.

Best Way to Write a Leave Letter

If you are a school student, you should seamlessly be able to write a leave letter. While the process and the structure of writing a leave letter are simple, it’s quite important to include things that are relevant to the context. Why? Because writing a leave letter to a class teacher is entirely different from writing a letter to a friend. It’s always advised not to copy any template as it is. Why? Because it looks too artificial and you as a student might lose the impression of your class teacher. The structure we are going to discuss is relevant to CBSE Class 10 students along with ICSE and state board students no matter which grade they are currently in.

At the end, you will find templates of a leave letter to the class teacher. Along with letter writing, it’s advised for class 10 students to be aware of the process of writing an application to the principal. Let’s first understand the structure of a leave letter so that you will be able to customize those as per your requirements.

How to write a leave letter? Unveiling the structure:

Recipient Address:

In this section, mention whom you are referring to, the school name, and the city in which your school is located.

Eg:

To,

The Class Teacher,

ABC School,

Hyderabad.

Subject:

Briefly explain what is there inside the letter. In this case, the teacher should be able to identify that it’s a leave letter in a single glance. Don’t forget to add the subheading- “subject”

Eg:

Subject: Request for Leave of Absence

Salutation:

It’s just a formal phrase with no more than two words. It sets a formal tone before the teacher actually reads the subject.

Eg: Respected Madam

Body of the letter:

This is the crucial element of your leave letter that carries the message you want to convey to your class teacher.

  • Start by briefly introducing yourself.
  • Mention the concern because of which you were made to write this leave letter.
  • Now introduce the leave request.
  • Clearly mention the number of days and exact dates for which you won’t be attending the school.
  • Close humbly by seeking leave for the days mentioned above.

Eg:

My name is [xyz] from Class X and my roll number is [21]. As I’m suffering from a high fever, I was advised by the doctor to stay home for the next three days. Because of this, I won’t be able to attend school starting from 11/09/2023 to 13/09/2023. I am committed to catching up on any missed assignments or lessons to ensure minimal disruption to my studies. Kindly consider my request.

Complimentary Close:

This is a formal way to end the letter and again it’s going to be a phrase of around two to three words.

Eg: Yours Sincerely

Student’s Details:

This part helps the teacher understand which student in the class wrote that letter so that they can identify the student’s name in the attendance register.

Eg:

[Your Name]

Class X

Roll No. 21

Let’s combine all these components to form a template:

To,

The Class Teacher,

ABC School,

Hyderabad.
