The seventh annual visa day was held by the US mission with the consular officers from Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata and New Delhi, in which they interviewed more than 3,500 Visa Applicants from India. The event is filled with a lot of positive vibes that display the enduring relationship between India and the USA. The prime highlight of the event is that the USA is looking to increase the number of student visas for Indian students significantly.

What is Student Visa Day?

The purpose of Student Visa Day is to celebrate the ever-lasting bonding between India and the United States in the education space. In the year 2023 itself, there are more than 200,000 Indian students studying in the USA, and the number contributes to more than 20% of the total International students pursuing their studies in the United States.

In the year 2022, the USA issued visas to Indian students, which are more than for any other nationality in the world. Yet, the USA is expecting more Indians to study in the USA as the acting Minister Counselor for Consular Affairs in India clearly stated that they are going to interview more Indian Students than ever before in 2023. So, it’s definitely great news for those who are aspiring to study in the USA.

At the event, Ambassador Eric Garcetti congratulated those who got their visas approved to study in the USA. He also shared his experiences as a student in India and felt that those experiences were really transformative. He also said that the US is always open to encouraging new talent from India by providing them with world-class opportunities in the United States.

The US mission also suggested students who are passionate about studying in the United States to contact Education USA  for any queries related to admissions & visa processing. The United States and India have had a robust bonding with respect to the education sector for a long time, and the current events solidify the bonding to a large extent which is a great sign for those who aspire to study in the United States of America.
